H90 Path To Success
A Week in the Life of a Hard 90 Travel Ball Player Who Made It to College or the Pros
At Hard 90 Baseball, we often get asked about the journey our players take to reach the collegiate or professional level. With over 400 alumni playing college and professional baseball, it's clear that our program works. But what does it take to get there? Let’s dive into a typical week in the life of a Hard 90 travel ball player who made it to the next level.
Our program, rooted in the Hard 90 Mindset, emphasizes the importance of training the five tools of baseball: hitting, hitting for power, throwing, fielding, and running. Scheduled team practices are just the minimum to play; to excel, our top players go beyond.
Hitting
Top Hard 90 players train their hitting tool five days a week. We offer junior high hitting sessions every day for our travel team members, ensuring they get the reps they need. Additionally, players often take at least one private hitting lesson with a coach each week. These lessons, offered at $25, allow players to focus on their approach at the plate and refine the finer aspects of hitting.
Junior High Hitting: 4 days a week
Private Hitting Lesson: 1 session a week
Throwing
Our players play catch five days a week to maintain and improve their throwing skills. Pitchers, in particular, have a rigorous schedule. They throw a bullpen during skills sessions and also have one private lesson a week with a pitching coach. These lessons focus on mentality on the mound, pitch design, and reviewing game video.
Playing Catch: 5 days a week
Bullpen Session: 1 session a week
Private Pitching Lesson: 1 session a week
Fielding
Fielding is another critical area where Hard 90 players excel. In addition to team practices, top players will train this tool one to two days outside of team practices through private lessons and classes. This extra training offers additional reps and helps players master the finer points of their specific positions.
Fielding Training: 1-2 days a week
Running
Speed and agility are crucial for a baseball player’s success. Below the age of 12, Hard 90 players work with a speed and agility trainer approximately two days a week. At 12 and above, they start working with a strength and conditioning coach in addition to the speed and agility trainer, three days a week.
Speed and Agility Training: 2 days a week
Strength and Conditioning: 3 days a week
The Commitment
This regimen is not easy, but it is proven. The commitment to this rigorous training schedule over the years pays off in the form of becoming a high school impact player and earning the opportunity to play in college and beyond.
Conclusion
The journey to collegiate or professional baseball is demanding, requiring dedication, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to improvement. At Hard 90 Baseball, our structured training program ensures that players develop the necessary skills and mindset to succeed. For those willing to put in the work, the rewards are immense, and the dream of playing at the next level becomes a reality.
If you aspire to reach these heights, remember: scheduled team practices are just the beginning. To truly excel, you need to embrace the Hard 90 Mindset and commit to going above and beyond. The path is challenging, but as our alumni have shown, it is achievable and immensely rewarding.
