This past week, Hard 90 Baseball’s own Jordan Walczykowski took the field at one of the most prestigious events in amateur baseball: the Perfect Game National Showcase, held at Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks. For any aspiring college or professional player, this event is a major milestone — and for Jordan, it was both an honor and a launching pad.

What Is the Perfect Game National Showcase?

The PG National Showcase has a rich history of spotlighting the nation’s most elite high school baseball players. Of the nearly 500,000 high school athletes playing baseball across the U.S., only 250 are selected to attend this invite-only event. That means Jordan is among the top 0.05% of players in the country — a testament to years of hard work, development, and dedication.

This showcase is known as the first major step toward playing in the Perfect Game All-American Classic, the MLB Draft, and elite Division 1 college baseball. It has been the proving ground for hundreds of eventual MLB stars.

Jordan’s Experience: Competing Among the Nation’s Best

Jordan arrived at Chase Field and was quickly outfitted with premium PG gear — a small but exciting reward for reaching this level. But the real action was just beginning.

He kicked off the week with athletic testing, which included:

• A timed 60-yard dash and 10-yard split

• Outfield arm strength evaluations

• A full batting practice round where he showcased his smooth left-handed swing and power to all fields

  
  

Jordan then took part in two games, facing off against the top pitching talent in the country. In five at-bats, he quickly learned the intensity of this level — pitchers working ahead in counts, velocity and command rarely seen in high school baseball. In many of these matchups, you only get one pitch to hit, and making the most of it is everything.

In his final at-bat of the showcase, Jordan delivered a rocket line drive up the middle at 91 mph for a clean knock, showing poise and barrel control against one of the nation's top arms. He didn’t stop there — he followed it up with elite baserunning, swiping second base to get into scoring position in a tight 2-2 game, showcasing his instincts, speed, and competitive edge.
