Tryouts Are Next Weekend. Bring the Hard 90 Mindset.

ree

Little League tryouts are coming up next weekend. For many players, this is the first time they will be evaluated in a more structured setting. Nerves are normal. Excitement is good. What matters most is how you show up.

At Hard 90, we believe tryouts are not about being perfect. They are about bringing the Hard 90 Mindset to the field.

That mindset is simple:

  • Do your best

  • Bring a positive attitude

  • Give 100 percent effort, no matter what

If you do those three things, you are already winning.

Even Though It’s a Tryout, Play Like a Teammate

Yes, tryouts are an evaluation. But baseball and softball are team sports, and coaches are always watching how players treat each other.

That means:

  • Encourage other players when they make a good play

  • Pick teammates up when something does not go their way

  • Hustle on and off the field

  • Listen and respond when a coach gives instruction

At Hard 90, we teach that competing and being a great teammate are not opposites. The players who stand out are the ones who work hard and make the people around them better.

Overcome Adversity the Hard 90 Way

Mistakes will happen. Everyone makes them.

What matters is how you respond.

If you make a mistake:

  • Reset quickly

  • Stay positive

  • Keep working

  • Look for the next opportunity

At Hard 90, we talk a lot about overcoming adversity. A missed ground ball, a strikeout, or a bad throw does not define you. Your response does.

Coaches notice the player who stays locked in, keeps hustling, and keeps learning.

Look to Learn

One of the most important traits coaches look for is coachability.

That means:

  • Make eye contact when a coach is talking

  • Try the adjustment they give you

  • Show that you want to get better

You do not have to know everything. You just have to be willing to learn.

How to Prepare This Week

Preparation builds confidence. Keep it simple.

Play catch this week

Play catch for 15–20 minutes most days leading into tryouts. Focus on:

  • Accuracy

  • Using your legs

  • Catching the ball cleanly

Get some swings in

Whether it is tee work, soft toss, or light batting practice, focus on:

  • Balance

  • Good contact

  • Swinging with confidence

You do not need to do anything extreme. Quality reps matter more than quantity.

Build Power the Right Way at Hard 90

If you want to take your hitting to the next level, Hard 90’s Power Hitting programs are designed specifically to help Little League players:

  • Learn how to generate bat speed safely

  • Develop strong swing mechanics

  • Build confidence at the plate

Power is not just about strength. It is about sequencing, balance, and intent — and we teach it the right way.

An Exciting Year Ahead at Hard 90

We are excited about what is coming in 2026 for our Little League players and families:

  • Expanded Power Hitting programs

  • New skill-development offerings

  • Continued focus on culture, confidence, and character

  • A commitment to developing players on and off the field

Hard 90 is more than a training facility. It is a culture.

Final Thought

Tryouts are just one day. Your attitude, effort, and mindset last all season.

Show up prepared. Encourage others. Compete hard. Learn from adversity.

Bring the Hard 90 Mindset — and let the results take care of themselves.

If you want help getting ready for tryouts or learning more about our Little League programs, reach out to the Hard 90 team. We are excited to work with you this season.
