With every major high school baseball program shutting down games in the Sacramento Region, it is important to follow John Wooden's advice - focus on what you can do during this frustrating time.
Some schools are still allowed to practice - many are not.
It is important for you to stay game ready. This means you need to stay on your in season routine - whether or not your high school team is practicing.
To that end, Hard 90 Baseball is firing back up the High School Combine for the next month to give players the ability to stay game ready through hitting, throwing and strength workouts. The combine will also include very important Live At Bats on our HitTrax to keep hitters and pitchers in season sharp! This will also allow players to also take advantage of $25 member private lessons.
Additionally, Hard 90 Baseball will be allowing high school players to sign up for one month of High School Hitting (normally 3 is the minimum.) This will give players full facility access, the ability to hit with a professional instructor 7 days per week and to take advantage of $25 member private lessons.
Additionally, both of these programs can be shared remotely through an app on your phone.
Be careful and make sure you understand CIF Rules. We have received many calls about playing some high school club games. It is our understanding that is a direct violation of CIF competition rules. Before you play in a game make sure you understand the CIF Outside Competition Rules.
The NCAA has invoked a special "Dead Period" to discourage unnecessary travel. This means that all in person visits are suspended until April 15. Coaches and recruits CAN still communicate via phone and email, texts and direct message.
This is a great time to do some college planning.
1. Follow up with coaches that you have been in touch with about college.
-Share a thought on their season, update them on your season and let them know what you are doing to stay game ready.
2. Research some schools on College Baseball Match. It is a good time to see where you stack up and what you need to do to get to your dream school.
With many schools going to a virtual learning environment, it is extremely important to stay on top of your studies. Stay diligent in completing your assignments and learning the material. When you return to school you want to make sure that you are prepared for comprehensive exams.
The CIF is convening all section commissioners on March 17 and 18 to discuss the impact of school closures on the Spring Sports season.
