HS SUMMER BALL
October 8, 2018
Here a few questions to answer before signing up for a high school summer ball team:
What are my goals for high school summer baseball: exposure, development or fun?
Does the organization help players develop individual goal sheets? (Five Tool Development)
Does the organization develop individual recruiting plans or just sign up for tournaments and hope players are seen?
Does the organization focus on games, training or both?
Is my high school requiring me to play for their summer team? If so, how will this club work with those requirements?
How long has the organization been around?
What is the organization's track record for developing players?
Who is the coach?
Is the coach an employee?
Does the organization do background checks on its coaches?
What curriculum is taught at the organization? (common curriculum or individual coach)
When does the organization practice? (location, times and frequency?)
How many tournaments does the team play during the summer?
How many players are on the roster?
Does the organization have pitchers only?
Does the organization carry enough pitchers to get through tournaments?
What is the organizations philosophy on play time?
How long does the season run?
What is the financial commitment (flat fee or pay per event?)
What are anticipated travel costs?
